What does your week look like?
Are your Mondays filled with Chaos?
Or are they filled with peace and serenity?
Do you know who you're meeting with this week?
Do you know what your top priorities are?
What if I told you that there's a simple strategy that can give you control over your week (and your life)?
What if that strategy only took you 30 minutes... Yet saved you HOURS of time every day?
In today's letter, I'll give you a simple strategy to triple your productivity.
Here are 4 steps to help you take control of your week (and get the right things done).
1. What are your Top 5 priorities for this month?
We're already 2 weeks into the month of August.
Time is FLYING by. 🚀
Are you getting the right things done?
Are you crushing your priorities?
Are you making progress toward your goals?
If you aren't, the first thing you need to do is ask yourself this question:
What are the 5 things I NEED to get done this month?
The first thing to do is:
Write down the most important things you need to finish this month.
These things are specific to you.
Only YOU know what needs to get done in your life.
If you need to fix that flashing engine light on your car, put it on your list.
If you need to fix the A/C in your house, put it on your list.
If you need to Study for that certification, put it on your list!
It doesn't matter what you need to do.
All that matters is that you write down your top 5 priorities.
If you need inspiration, here's what I wrote for the month of August:
Finish the entire MC Admin course (Video Content & Mock Exams)
Workout 3x per week consistently
Prep for instructor cert (Marketing Cloud Connect)
Work on Taxes every day (Hire book-keeper)
Fix car light
Think about the 5 most important things you need to work on this month - (And write them down).
Once you write your top 5 priorities down, let's go to step two.
2. Identify Top 3 Priorities For This Week
The next question to ask yourself is:
Out of my 5 priorities this month... What are the TOP 3 things I need to work on this week?
These are the urgent things you need to accomplish.
My question to you is:
"If you could only work on 3 things this week, what would those 3 things be?"
You already know what you need to do.
It's just a matter of choosing and taking massive action.
Once you write your 3 priorities for this week, you should have a clear vision of what NEEDS to get done this week.
3. Identify Your Top 3 To-Do List Items
Once you write your 3 priorities for this week...
The next step is to write your To Do list.
The goal in this step is to write 3 things you want to do this week.
These 3 things will help you progress in life this week, but they're not as important as your top 3 priorities.
These to-do list items could be anything you want to get done this week.
Here's what I wrote for this week (August 13th to August 19th), 2023
Schedule Allergy test
Write weekly newsletter and promote it on social media
Take pictures of couch and put the pics on Facebook Marketplace
You can put whatever you want on your to-do list.
The goal is to write things that help you make progress in life and stay caught up in your everyday life.
You can write more than 3 things on your to-do list.
But don't beat yourself up if you don't finish everything on your to-do list this week.
As a matter of fact, if you don't finish those extra things this week, you might want to ask yourself if they're even that important.
I mean... If you wrote extra to-do list items down this week and didn't do them, are they THAT important?? 🤔
Food for thought...
Okay... Let's go to step 4
4. Put Everything in The Calendar
Now it's time to schedule your life.
This is the most crucial step.
This is where the rubber meets the road.
Once you identify what needs to get done, it's time to tell the universe when you're going to do it.
If you don't write down WHEN you're going to do something, it's not real.
Plain and simple.
You can WANT to do something all day long.
But if you don't put it in the calendar, it's just floating in the air.
You need to solidify it like concrete.
When you put your intentions in the calendar, you tell the world what you're going to do.
How often do co-workers and managers put events on your calendar?
Do you show up to the things that people put on your calendar?
Of course you do!
When something is on the calendar, it's real!
Set the intention and put your priorities on the calendar.
Here's what my calendar looks like this week.
Put your priorities and To Do list items in your calendar.
And then STICK TO IT!
Getting the right things done doesn't have to be that hard.
As a matter of fact...
The more simple you keep it, the more likely you will achieve your goals.
Conclusion
When you follow these 4 steps, you'll know exactly what you're doing this week.
And you'll know WHEN you're doing it.
That way, when someone asks you, "What are you doing on Wednesday"
You can say:
"I'm working out at 5:30 AM
Researching and reaching out to a book-keeper at 7:00 AM
Studying for an instructor certification at 10:00 AM
And so on...
So my question to you is:
"Are you on track to win the month of August?"
If you are, let me know.
If you aren't...
How are you going to make the most out of this month?
Time is flying by either way.
Are you letting life happen to you?
Or are you making your dent in the universe?
